Costs and Fees

What do  your fees include?

Our mediation fees include

  • Preparation and reading the case papers in advance
  • The day of the mediation
  • Helping to arrange the venue/e-mediation

Our fee does not include

  • VAT
  • Hiring of rooms and premises
  • Catering costs
  • Excessive travelling costs or overnight accommodation where necessary (subject to arrangement in advance)
  • Any other costs or disbursements agreed in advance

When are fees payable?

Fees are payable in advance of the mediation taking place. 

Who pays for mediation?

The costs of mediation are normally divided 50:50 between the two parties.

Standard Fees

The fees and costs listed below are a rough guide. Before we enter into a mediation we will give an exact quote, taking into account the likely duration of the process, the amount of preparation and travelling required and other circumstances.

One hour mediation
Suitable for straightforward disputes that can be easily resolved.

Two hour mediation
Includes maximum of one hour of preparation/reading time

Four hour mediation (half-day)

Disputes in the workplace can require one or more days to complete depending on the number of staff involved

Fees shown are the total costs, and are divided equally between the two parties. Fees are payable in advance.

Cancellation

If we have to cancel a mediation and we cannot arrange a suitable alternative date/time then the fees paid will be refunded in full, minus any unrecoverable disbursements. If one or other of the parties to a mediation cancel within less than five working days then the full fee for mediation must be paid.

Overtime and extensions

If a mediation is extended beyond the allotted time then if possible it can be continued at an overtime rate of £175 per hour (shared equally between the two parties). This overtime rate is payable within 7 days of the mediation completing.
